Apparently, Nigerian songstress and award winning vocalist, Essence has left her long-time record label, Kennis Music.
Before now, speculation has been rife about the nature of her deal and relationship with the label but the release of a new video for her single, ‘Giving it all’ on December 22, 2014 confirmed it all as there is an absence of the Kennis Music imprint in all the materials (video and graphic designs).
NET investigations revealed that her contract with Kennis Music expired about three years ago but she remained with the label all the while because of the love and respect she has for the label even though both parties decided not to renew the contract. She, however, decided to formally quit the label and run things on her own with the release of her new video, ‘Giving it all’.
With her exit, Essence joins Jaywon, Capital FEMI and Minjin who all parted ways with Kennis Music in 2014.
Essence, whose real name is Uwale Okoro, began her relationship with with Kennis Music back in 2000 but was not officially signed to the label until 2004.
