The management of the Nations Newspaper has retracted a story published on its medium regarding an interview purportedly granted by First Bank of Nigeria Chairman, Mrs Ibukun Awosika.
The interview which was published in the Nations’ Flair pullout carried the title: ‘I Still Kneel for My Husband,’ which Awosika denied saying she never conducted an interview with the said reporter.
In a statement released by the management of the media house, they said further investigation showed that “the reporter passed off the bulk of an old interview with Awosika published in The Nation on October 7, 2012” in place of a recent one reportedly conducted with Awosika at an Afterschool Graduate Development Centre event in Lagos last week.
The management also tendered an apology to Mrs Awosika while revealing that appropriate actions would be taken against the erring staff.
