With a new season of popular sex and relationship TV series, Shuga to premiere in June 2015, a nationwide HIV campaign has been announced by producers known as MTV Shuga on Tour.
Billed to hold in partnership with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Shuga on Tour aims to encourage as many as 25, 000 young people across the country to to get tested for the deadly virus.
The campaign, billed for March 2015, will also include a peer to peer education drive using the MTV Shuga TV programme as a tool for stimulating dialogue about the campaign while seeking to change the attitude of Nigerian youth towards public health issues.
Meanwhile, the new season of the MTV-produced series will focus on a range of themes relevant to young Nigerians including adolescent girls, stigma, prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), HIV testing, gender based violence, first sex and disclosure of HIV status.
