Count Beyonce Knowles among the millions of mothers worldwide who are proud to breastfeed their children out in the open. Moms who are protesting and campaigning to de-stigmatize breastfeeding in public seem to have a new face supporting their cause.
Beyonce was on Saturday spotted breastfeeding Blue Ivy at Sant Ambroeus, a cafe in New York’s West village. Bey was dinning with hubby Jay-z, an observer told US weekly. She was later photographed leaving the restaurant, carrying her 8-weeks-old baby.
‘The scene’ came in the midst of a national ‘Breast is Best’ breastfeeding movement propagated by the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) advising mothers to exclusively breastfeed for 6 months and that nursing should be considered a public health issue rather than a lifestyle choice.
Last year, Michelle Hickman, a Texas-based was humiliated for breastfeeding at a TARGET store by protesters.
Beyonce’s recent ‘demonstration’ seems to be a big plus for the campaign.
Bey and Jigga welcomed their first child Blue Ivy on Sunday morning, January 8, 2012 at the New York City’s Lenox Hill Hospital via a scheduled C-section.
