Mireia, who represented Spain, defeated other queens to emerge the first Spanish contestant to win the pageant.
In her acceptance speech, the elated beauty queen said, ‘Just because I am beautiful on the outside does not mean I am not beautiful on the inside, too. I think this is a good decision, because Miss World is not looking for our body, they are looking for a soul.’
Russia’s Sofia Nikitchuk emerged 2nd-runner-up while Maria Harfanti of Indonesia took the 3rd position at the pageant which had 114 contestants.
