Nigerian-International player John Mikel Obi has signed a new 5 year contract with the Chelsea FC.
Mikel told Chelsea’s official website ‘Chelsea seems like my home now because I have been here for over six years,’
‘I come into the training ground every day to work and I value my time there. I am happy and want to keep going and win trophies for this club.’
Mikel’s signing to a football club caused a major controversy between Manchester United FC and Chelsea FC in January 2006. He eventually settled with Chelsea FC in June 2006 with a signing bill of £16 million and made his debut for the football club in September 2006 playing against Levski Sofia.
Mikel Obi has won a Premiere league title, four FA cups and the League cup with Chelsea.
The 25-year-old player was recently nominated for the 2012 African Footballer of the Year.
