After an intensive two-year diploma programme at the prestigious Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), 30 young Nigerians graduated on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
MTN Nigeria’s MUSON Scholars programme has provided scholarships for over 300 Nigerians in the past 15 years, and this year, these 30 talented musicians are recipients. In celebration of their graduation, the students held a concert to thrill fans and showcase the talents that have been groomed at the academy.
Meet the MTN MUSON Class of 2021:
1. Timilehin Adeoye
Adeoye discovered his love for music at the age of 10 and is a jazz music connoisseur. He is a Trumpet Major.
2. Obar Jerome Oghenevwogaga
Jerome is a vocalist and Baritone major. He holds a BA in Philosophy and enjoys watching movies and communicating the truth.
3. Esther Ahipue
Esther discovered her love for music at a young age in secondary school. She is a flute major.
4. Ude Madu Kasiemobi
Kasiemobi holds a diploma in Music and is a Piano Major. He enjoys cycling and playing football.
5. Godwin Chinzoberem
Chinzoberem enjoys learning the German language, taking long walks and listening to music. He is a Cello Major.
6. Chukwuchebe Ezekiel
Ezekiel is a vocalist and countertenor major. He enjoys travelling and listening to music and believes “all things are possible to those who believe”.
7. Efeonah Abraham Oghenero
Abraham holds a B.Sc in Sociology and Anthropology and is a Trumpet major.
8. Ganthonu Odevivi Mayowa
Mayowa loves music/ cultures, cooking, reading, and music. She is a vocalist and Mezzo-soprano major.
9. Ezeh Glory Eno
Glory loves vocal performances and attending musical concerts. She is a Voice Major: Contra-alto, and she believes that “One isn’t completely dressed until they are dressed with the Glory of God.”
10. Kegbru Goodluck Aghoghowia
Goodluck enjoys listening to Gospel music and playing the saxophone. He is a saxophone major: Alto.
11. Kokpa Samuel
Samuel enjoys writing. He is a Violin major and holds the belief that “Life should be fair to all and everyone, treated equally.”
12. Oliver Marvellous Ekele
Marvellous enjoys reading motivational books and playing football. He is a Saxophone: Tenor major and believes that “Excellence is self Market.”
13. Ngene Paul Ekenedilichukwu
With a voice so sweet and the words so fair, Paul enjoys playing table tennis, singing, listening to classical music, and attending seminars. He is a Voice Major: Tenor.
14. Nnaemeka Pearl Chidinma
Chidinmwa holds a B.Sc degree in Mass Communication. She enjoys reading books and finds delight in tasting new foods, and she is a Voice Major: Soprano.
15. Obiagwu Victor Chidera
Chidera holds a B.Sc in Biochemistry and enjoys watching movies, researching & reading books, and is a Voice Major: Baritone.
16. Nweke Ogechukwu Maryann
Nweke discovered her love and passion for music in secondary school. She loves singing, reading novels and listening to music. She is a Voice Major: Soprano.
17. Ogbonyomi Titilope David
David discovered his interest and passion for music at the tender age of 4. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching movies, and music production. David is a Piano major.
18. Oghenejaboh Samuel Precious
Samuel enjoys surfing the internet and is a Trumpet Major.
19. Ojo Abiodun
Abiodun holds a BA in mass communication and loves to play the organ, directing music, reading novels, swimming and travelling. He is an Organ major.
20. Nwokejiezi Harry Izuchukwu
Izuchukwu enjoys playing musical instruments, composing musical pieces and art crafts. He is a Violin Major and believes that “If one works smart and prays more, the sky would be the limit”.
21. Ogunyemi Opeyemi Oluwatosin
Opeyemi loves learning new skills and researching. He is a Saxophonist Saxophone Major: Alto and believes that “Nobody cares about one story until they win”.
22. Oloniyo Samuel Olaitan
He discovered his interest and love for music at the age of 16. Olaitan enjoys travelling, singing, and social interaction. He is a Voice major: Baritone.
23. Olulano Oluyemi
Oluyemi holds an HND in Computer Science and enjoys programming, audio-visual production, and video games. He is a Piano Major.
24. Nchekwube Chioma Charity
Chioma loves singing, writing, acting, and playing games. She is a Voice major: soprano.
25. Otroyin John Onah
John discovered his passion for music as a child. He holds Creatives Certifications in Creative writing and is a Voice major: Counter Tenor.
26. Oyejide Paul
Paul is an Electrical Electronics Engineer. He enjoys playing football and music, which he finds as a hobby. Paul is an Organ Major.
27. Peter Isreal Udoh
Isreal discovered his love and interest in music at the tender age of 5. He holds a BSc in Computer Science and loves swimming, cycling, playing the violin, football and tennis in his free hours. He is a Violin Major.
28. Bimbo Adeola Timilehin
Timilehin enjoys singing, recording, and songwriting. He is a Voice major: Baritone.
29. Alabi Peter Taiwo
Peter discovered his passion for music during his days in the children choir and enjoys reading, listening to music, touring and learning new skills. He is a Saxophone Major.
30. Chukwu Victor Chukwuemelie
Victor loves swimming, watching movies and travelling. He is a Cello Major and believes that “If music is the food of love, one should play on, give an excess of it; that surfeit, the appetite may sicken and die”.
