When Mimi Linda ‘Medlin Boss’ Yima, started her journey as a fashion designer, she was only doing it because it is what she loves to do. She wanted to look good, and that’s all she did – for a while. She would later bow to pressure from her friends and started a small-scale fashion business. Today, she has become one of Nigeria’s most recognised celebrity stylists.

Born on August 10, 1982, into a family of six in the Gboko Local Government area of Benue State, Mimi studied Sociology at the University of Port Harcourt, where she launched her fashion brand, Medlin Couture.
In the early days of Medlin Couture, the business started with a suitcase worth of fashion accessories and clothes, which Medlin Boss sold to mostly her coursemates who admired her dress sense. She, however, evolved into a creative designer and began to style fashion enthusiasts. In 2020, she moved her business from Port Harcourt to Lagos, and since then, Medlin Couture has continued to cement its place as a force in the Nigerian fashion space and the go-to designer brand for many celebrities.
As one of those changing the face of fashion in Nigeria, Medlin Boss deviates from the norm when styling by adding unique concepts to her clothes and using distinct fabric textures and colours.
Medlin styled ex-BBNaija housemates Teddy A and Bam Bam for their traditional wedding in 2019. Their outfits sent tongues wagging on the Nigerian internet for days. She has also styled stars like Ayo Makun, Funke Akindele, Ini Edo, Tonto Dikeh, Carolyna Hutchings, and Chioma Ikokwu, among many others.
Renowned for her influence in the Nigerian fashion space, Medlin Boss emerged as the winner of the 2022 NET Honours Most Popular Celebrity Stylist.
She polled 57.5% of the votes in the category beating other top designers like Tiannah Styling, Dahmola, Swanky Jerry, and The Style Infidel to win the award.
