When Memphis Depay arrived at Manchester United in 2015, he was hailed as the next big thing, the new Ronaldo who was going to reach the iconic levels that the former Reds number 7 reached.
It wasn’t to be. Less than two seasons after his hyped arrival, he has taken a pay cut to be join French club Lyon.
His unceremonious exit was due to his lacklustre performances for most his Man U days. It’s been said that he lacked the mindset of a true athlete and was more concerned with on field antics. In his 52 appearances for the club, he only managed to score five times, leading coach Jose Mourinho to show him out of the club.
