Let’s talk Primary Colours: Red – Yellow – Blue
Let’s talk Secondary Colours: Orange – Green – Purple.
If you all remember the Colour Wheel, then it will be easy for you to remember these Basic Colours. They can all be gotten by simple mixtures (so you see where Colour Blocking came from).
Then we have the Neutral Colours: Black – White – Grey and then the ones I call the Earth Colours: Brown.
The Metallic Colours: Gold – Silver – Bronze.
Colours tell a lot about the way you feel or the mood you are in.
They also have a thing with the way they go with different skin tones, that’s why for every colour; there are different shades and tones.
I’m going to take the different colours one after the other to the best of my knowledge and how it can help you make good fashion choices.
We’ll take them class by class.
CLASS ONE: NEUTRAL COLOURS
BLACK
Black is a strong and bold colour, I always say ‘Black hides a multitude of sin’ and Black can do no wrong. It’s the safest colour to play with, because you can get away with almost anything. Thus ‘LBD’ Little Black Dress (the original LB)
It could be long or short, but tells about little or not much. For busty, fat people (on the big side) I advise to wear black most times, because it tends to reduce their physical size, concealing as much as it can (it tends to make you look slim).
WHITE
White has a grace and divinity that comes with it and has a way of showing off neatness.
It’s not one colour people love to play with every time except its last resort or it’s probably the dress code colour. White is just impeccable. You really can’t hide. But the thing about white is its exaggerated state; it has a way of making a person look bulky. It adds a little volume to one’s original size, mostly when it’s layered, when it’s defined or structured, its better, doesn’t give out so much.
GREY
This is a really subtle colour, that doesn’t say so much. It could be dressed up or dressed down depending on how the style of the dress is. A lot of people don’t think it’s friendly enough, they class it as dull, but I tell you, with the right cut and accessories, you can kill it any day with grey. It’s a very safe colour to wear any day, anytime. A lot of men feel safe wit grey, when they’ve had enough of black. You find most men doing grey than women.
These colours can be mixed and matched in their states; either two of the colours or all three colours. They are subtle and no matter how much you cross dress it, it always comes out right.
