The burial arrangements have been announced for the late professor Adetokunbo Sofoluwe, immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos who passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 after he suffered from a cardiac arrest.
According to Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research) Professor Babajide Alo (who is the chairman of the burial committee), ‘the body will lie-in-state on campus between 8AM and 9AM on Thursday May 31, followed by a funeral service by 10AM at the All Saints’ Church, Yaba.
An interment will then follow at the Vault and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos, after which a light reception will hold at the Multi-purpose Hall, Main Campus, Akoka.
Other plans will however take place before the May 31 burial date. According to Alo, ‘there would be a services of songs for the deceased on May 29 at the University’s main auditorium and lying-in-state at the Multi-purpose Hall on May 30 at 8AM; a special Senate session in the Senate Chamber at 12 Noon, which will be followed by a wake-keep at 5PM back at the Multi-purpose hall’.
The burial ceremony we hear will be attended by the late professor’s family, educationists from neighbouring tertiary schools and others.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Management Services) Professor Rahman Ade-Bello has been made acting V.C
