You’ve been wondering where she’s been? We found her – the journalist and broadcaster, who came to national fame while working as a news anchor on Channels TV, is now the face you’ll see on TV Continental’s flagship news.
Akintobi, who left Channels TV in 2009, most recently ran an independent channel (4Real TV) on the HiTV platform. Sources say she began the relationship with TVC after anchoring the station’s live election coverage in April 2011. And when HiTV went into receivership in November of the same year, she took up an offer to read the news on TVC twice a week.
TVC is a Lagos-based privately-owned television station, broadcasting on UHF Channel 49, as well as Startimes and in the UK on BSkyB Channel 204.
‘The deal is quite flexible‘, Akintobi, the daughter of respected music producer Laolu Akins, says. ‘I’m on contract, and read the Flagship news twice a week – Mondays and Tuesdays. Aside from that, I’ve been working on other projects, and would like to eventually work with an international news organization’.
The 2009 Future Award Winner for ‘On Air Personality of the Year (TV)’ was awarded a Chevening Scholarship by the British Council in mid 2009, and returned to Nigeria after completing her Master’s Degree in International Journalism at City University in London. She graduated with Merit in May 2011.

Nice to know she’s back on air. Missed her professional news anchoring technique which endeared her to so many! Welcome back.
thank God u left channels. john momoh would have turned u 2 a sick fat elephant. here’s looking forward to ur wedding. please do not enter demurage it is highly expensive.
Very disheartening that HITV crashed. The painfule aspect is the punishment melted on the staff by both GTBank and the management of HITV before it colapsed. Six to seven months Salary were being owed and no one is saying anything about this. A lot of these staff have borrowed before then, and no one is concerned about their welfare.
In honesty, Gtbank is a useless bank, why can’t they the staff and sell off the HITV of a thing company. I guess they do not even know what to make out of the issue, locking the office is never considered to be the best option by that useless Aribisala (the receiver manager)
