Rapper Moti Cakes was born Motolani Awokoya in Chicago, USA on March 19, 1990. The oldest of four brothers, he began writing rhymes in High School after moving to Florida from Nigeria at the completion of his elementary school.
After graduating from the University of Miami in 2010, Moti Cakes trained as a Sound Engineer at the Afterhours Studios in Miami Beach for two years. The last seven years of his life have also been spent in Miami perfecting his unique style of rap music.
With his core influences originating from Miami trap music, Moti Cakes has been known to deliver raw club raps translated over radio friendly flows. His ‘Las Gidi Vegas’ project showcases the versatility of the ‘Cakeman’ with a compilation of different club records and radio friendly sounds.
Being influenced by Nigerian acts including Eldee, Naeto C, Sasha P and M I, Moti Cakes returns to Lagos for an exciting new project after signing with M Music and is ready to present his debut effort to the world.
