He almost drowned in an ocean of tears, as the crowd screamed his name repeatedly. ‘Kevin!’ ‘Kevin!!’ ‘Kevin!!!’
Kevin Chuwang, the 27 year old entertainer from Nigeria, who was highly favoured by compatriots, walked away with the top prize tonight, after slugging it out with 24 other contestants for all of 91 days.
200,000 dollars (plus US Dollars 2,700 which he still had in his money pot courtesy of Big Brother), that’s what Kevin won, becoming the first Nigerian to win the Big Brother Africa reality show. This season of BBA, tagged The Revolution, was the fourth edition.
Angolan Emma da Rocha (the last woman standing) emerged first runner-up while Edward Moongo from Namibia came third.
Another Nigerian Nkenna Iwuagwu came fifth.
As usual, plenty twists and turns characterised this edition of Big Brother; and, although there were no shower hours, and many fans found it difficult to get hooked to the show like past editions, the BBA 4 is ending on a very high note- getting thumbs-up, especially, from millions of Nigerian fans who desperately wanted their compatriot Kevin to clinch the top prize.
Kevin’s win is attracting international attention already; with singer Keri Hilson congratulating him on her twitter page : ”Huge congrats to Kevin for winning Big Brother Africa. I’ll be in Nigeria later this month” she wrote on her twitter account shortly after the winner was announced.
27- year- old entertainer Kevin has a BA in English Language and has 7 siblings; according to his profile on the BBA website.
