In preparation for the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) tournament, the newly refurbished Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos town was officially opened on Saturday, November 23, 2013.
The grand opening was marked with a football match and musical concert.
Machakos County governor Alfred Mutua who had earlier revealed that the stadium will host a number of event matches including CECAFA, said ‘I think the people of Machakos need something to make them smile after all this hard work’
The stadium which had been in a bad state has now taken a different look with its newly built dressing room, metal stands and planted grass.
