African storytelling has officially entered a new era with the launch of KAVA, a Nigerian-born streaming platform, which today announced exclusive early access on kava.tv, coinciding with its highly anticipated UK launch.

First unveiled in Lagos, Nigeria, in July 2025, KAVA is now extending its reach to a global diaspora audience through a strategic web-first rollout. This initial phase precedes the upcoming availability of dedicated mobile and smart TV applications, expected in the coming weeks.
The ambitious venture is backed by prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry: Kene Okwuosa, Group CEO of Filmhouse Group (encompassing Filmhouse Cinemas, FilmOne Entertainment, and FilmOne Studios), and Chinaza Onuzo, CEO of Inkblot Productions. Their collaboration signifies a bold commitment to making Nollywood content as universally accessible as Hollywood productions.
Upon launch, early-access subscribers will gain immediate entry to a premium catalogue featuring over 30 Nollywood titles. This curated selection includes recent post-theatrical blockbusters and exclusive original productions, with a promise of fresh content being added on a weekly basis.
For the significant population of Nigerians and other Africans residing in the diaspora, the streaming platform is poised to become a cinematic ‘home away from home,’ offering authentic cultural representation and beloved narratives.
With an estimated 17 million Nigerians living abroad, the demand for genuine African content has reached unprecedented levels. Industry analysts are highlighting KAVA’s web-first debut as a shrewd strategic move, signifying the rapidly growing global influence of Nollywood.
By providing immediate digital access and planning for broader app integration, the platform is effectively building anticipation while solidifying its position as the definitive global hub for African storytelling.
