Super Eagles and Chelsea footballer John Mikel Obi Father’s has been found alive and well in Kano 10 days after he was kidnapped and held from Jos.
Micheal Obi Snr. was last seen in Jos on Friday, August 12, 2011 where he was abducted, according to reports. The story was confirmed by Obi’s management Sport Entertainment & Media Group (SEM).
Obi Snr. told the BBC that he was indeed kidnapped in Jos and later taken to Kano. ‘I am very stressed’, he told the BBC.
Sport Entertainment & Media Group tweeted through their @thesemgroup twitter account ‘SEM are delighted to confirm, that earlier today Michael Obi called his family to advise them that he had been released by his abductors. SEM have waited until now to release this information, to ensure that Michael was safe. John Obi Mikel would like to thank everyone in Nigeria, his family & friends, Chelsea FC & their fans & his agents for their total support during this terrible time. A full statement of the situation will be released by SEM tomorrow morning‘.
According to media reports, the abductors have been apprehended and are now in Police Custody.
Throughout his father’s abduction, Mikel continued to play for his club Chelsea Fc and featured in the Stoke City and Liverpool matches.
