However, organisers of the match had to inform him that he would be unable to take part because of the ban from football imposed on him by the FA.
Barton was initially handed an 18-month ban in April 2017 after being charged with breaking FA rules for placing 1,260 bets on matches between March 26, 2006 and May 13, 2016.
And while the ban has been reduced by to 13 months, the FA insist he cannot take part in the match; much to Barton’s dismay.

‘I would have loved to be supporting the #Game4Grenfell at Loftus Road on [September 2, 2017],’ he wrote of the game taking place on his birthday.
‘…but FA have decided my ban extends to helping a great cause. So unfortunately, unless someone engages their brain, I won’t make it.’
Barton also attached a mail from the Game for Grenfell organisers to his tweet at the English FA.

While the former QPR and Burnley player won’t be allowed to play in the game which is sanctioned by the FA, the likes of Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, David Seaman, Paul Merson and Stoke City striker, Peter Crouch are expected to feature.
Music stars, Tinie Tempah, Marcus Mumford and Wretch 32 are also among those billed to appear at the game
No fewer than 79 persons were confirmed dead in the fire incident on July 14 which is deemed as the deadliest fire in Great Britain since the Second World War.
