South Africa and Jill Scott music fans will be wearing a huge frown on their faces with the news of the popular musician, actress and poet pulling out of the forthcoming annual jazz celebration in Cape Town.
The organisers of the festival gave a confirmation of the news and plead that the cancellation is due to her involvement in a movie scheduled to start at the end of March.
The organisers of the festival, espAfrika have however expressed their extreme disappointment for this withdrawal, explaining that all efforts to ensure her presence proved abortive.
‘We are extremely disappointed that Jill Scott has cancelled her performance and apologise for any inconveniencies caused. We are in the process of trying to secure another artiste’, espAfrika CEO, Rashid Lombard explains.
Ten festival scheduled for the 31st of march 2012 will not have the most anticipated musician featured but organisers has stressed that revellers will still enjoy more than 40 acts lined up for the festival and assured that its success will not be affected by the cancellation.
Other international acts to grace the stage for the festival include Dave Koz, Hugh Masekela and Zolani Mahela.
Meanwhile, everything seems different in Johannesburg as multiple Grammy- award winner, Usher Raymond dazzled about 30,000 fans at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto for the Hansa festival Legends last weekend.
The stage had already been warmed up by acts like L-Tido, Zakes Bantwini and teargas, Oskido and many more before Usher Raymond finally gave his remarkable performance; ending with the promise: ‘Soweto, i’m gonna take ya’all back with me’,
