Nigerian 13-piece band, BANTU, has released its new album which pays homage to Lagos and the state of being in the city.
Titled Agberos International, the album comprises 10 tracks including ‘Niger Delta Blues’ which features iconic drummer, Tony Allen.
has been described as more of an experience and a journey by BANTU lead vocalist, Ade Bantu.
According to him, Agberos International is the ultimate BANTU experience and represents a quest for liberation.
‘We wanted to set the record straight and break free from all the labels people keep trying to apply when trying to describe our music,’ Bantu said.
‘It’s all about being courageous. What we’re telling people is just go and create your experience.’
He also likened creating an experience like the album aims to achieve with the monthly music show, Afropolitan Vibes.
‘Afropolitan Vibes began with about a 100 people,’ he said, ‘Now it has about a thousand sometimes, two thousand people at it.’
The new album deploys the genius of award-winning music producer and sound engineer, Aman Junaid, who has previously worked with TLC, George Clinton and more.
Agberos International was released on July 7 under Soledad Productions and is available for purchase on all digital platforms worldwide.
