One of the world’s richest black women, Folorunsho Alakija, had the joy of seeing her son, Folarin, get married to his Iranian love, Nazanin Ghaissarifar at a lavish ceremony in London over the weekend.
And if your net worth is $2.1b, you would wish to go all out on such a special occasion, which is exactly what the Alakijas did as an estimated N2.3b was spent on the glamourous wedding ceremony.

You must now be wondering how on earth not one, but two billion naira was spent on just one wedding.
For starters, the wedding cake alone is said to have cost only £10,000, standing at 12-feet tall and comprising eight tiers with flowers donning it.

The wedding was held at the Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire which reportedly rents out exclusively at £150,000 (N71m) and was decorated with a million white roses.

The venue also spotted a bespoke marquee as well as bespoke marble floor which had the couple’s initials inscribed on it. That is said to have cost only £200,000 (N95m).

Then there was the surprise guest performance for the adorable couple, as Robin Thicke serenaded them and the wedding guests with some of his well-known love songs.
Word is it took about £150,000 (N75m) to get the American R&B star to entertain guests at the wedding.

Also, hundreds of family and close friends were said to have been flown in from Nigeria and lodged in a hotel for the weekend.

And the guests went home with gift bags – pink blush bags with white flowers embossed on the side of each bag.

Naza is Folarin’s second wife, after he lost his first wife, Chena, to cancer six years ago. He has a daughter with her.

The Iranian model studied Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Manchester.
She also has a graduate Diploma in Law and has also worked as a marketing consultant.
