Everton’s new signing Ademola Lookman, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and Tom Davies scored as Manchester City suffered an ‘awful’ 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
Yaya Toure and Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho – who replaced Zabaleta in the second half – were in action in City’s second loss in three EPL games.
City coach, Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports during his post-match comment: ‘We created enough chances in the first half to score.
‘We were not able to score and they had one chance and scored. They scored straight after the second half and that is tough mentally for the players.
‘Of course we can do better. It is awful for my players.

‘I said to the players to be positive because they have done fantastic things in this season but didn’t always get what we deserve. I think all managers can say this, though.’
Manchester City, who were favourite to top the 2016/17 EPL title race in the beginning, now sit in fifth place, 10 points behind new title favourite, Chelsea.
