American actress Katherine Heigl has given birth to her first child with her singer-songwriter husband, Josh Kelley.
The child, a boy named Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr., was born on Tuesday, December 20 and he joins two older adopted sisters, Nancy Leigh and Adalaide.
Nancy was adopted from South Korea where Katherine’s sister was adopted from, while Adalaide was adopted in the United States.
News of the Grey’s Anatomy star’s first ever pregnancy first broke last June and she expressed the couple’s shock at it in a blog at the time.
‘It was totally unexpected but thrilling none the less… The whole pregnancy thing is new to me but the thrill of having a baby is not,’ she said.
‘Seeing as I have never been pregnant and as my OB/GYN reminded me last year, I’m of advanced maternal age, I wasn’t sure pregnancy was even in the cards for us. Turns out it was very much in the cards!’
Heigl also revealed adoption was being considered if she couldn’t get pregnant, saying, ‘We were considering adoption again, fostering, or pregnancy if possible.’
