
‘I started acting forty years ago with NTA, Ibadan. My first movie was a Television series titled ‘Why Worry The Barber’ with Akin Lewis and Olumide Bakare,’ he told THENETNG.

In the course of his career, the talented actor has featured more in foreign movies, which is one of the reasons why many Nigerians don’t know he’s been acting for four decades.
Speaking on why he has featured more in international movies, Wale explained, ‘Because in between I went away. I am an international actor, I work anywhere. I am in Nigeria now for The CEO press screening and after this, I would leave for Prague (the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic). I work all over the world.’

On why he ventured into acting, he said, ‘I love acting. It’s what I have always wanted to do. I fought to do it, I struggled to do it. Hubert Ogunde was a big inspiration. I watched him a lot on Television.’
Wale Ojo is a member of the popular Ojo clan in Ibadan. He broke into the international scene as the age of 21. Ojo is the pioneer and founder of the New Nigeria Cinema whose aim is to improve the quality of Nigerian films. To date, he runs a yearly festival titled New Nigeria Cinema day at the British Film Institute in London.
