Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu has successfully rallied colleagues and well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of a University of Lagos graduate, Ahmed Mayowa Shukurat who is battling ovarian cancer.
According to the actress, she got wind of Mayowa’s plight after she was tagged on a post calling for funds for the 28-year-old.
Toyin swiftly sprung into action to visit the frail patient at LUTH on Monday, July 25 and has been at the forefront of the campaign for the $100,000 needed for treatment at Emory International Hospital Atlanta, United States.
Other Nigerian celebrities such as Genevieve Nnaji, Mercy Aigbe, Biodun Okeowo, Lami Phillips, Omoni Oboli, Ufuoma McDermott, Ruggedman, Seyi Shay, Sound Sultan and many more also rose to the occasion in donating and soliciting for funds.
As at today, July 26, the gofundme page here opened for Mayowa who needs around N30 million for her operation has reportedly achieved over N32 million in three days.
