A story of how DJ Obi, hitherto, a little known Nigerian DJ, became a force to reckon with, thanks to a major career stunt likely executed by his cross continent team.
That stunt was an apparently successful attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest DJing set.

What is also less known about him is that he is the son of the late popular NTA newscaster and NNPC spokesperson Levi Ajuonuma.
His attempt also went global with the BBC reporting the story as ‘Nigerian DJ claims to have beaten the current DJ’ing world record.’
Despite what the BBC thinks about his record, what is clear is that overnight DJ Obi seems to have stolen the march on other fast rising DJs like Spinall and Xclusive.

In one fell swoop, even though he still trails the legend DJ Jimmy Jatt, he has carved out a name for himself.
Like him or not, and I am looking at other Nigerian DJs, DJ Obi is no longer you people’s mate. He may not be legendary yet but he has become something you guys could not achieve, despite the many years invested in the industry. World-renowned.
And this is perhaps why, except for DJ Jimmy Jatt, most DJs with the exception of DJs Spinall, Xclusive and Big N, were conspicuous by their absence throughout his record breaking attempt, amongst the hundreds of entertainers who thronged Sao Cafe in Lekki, during the ten days, to show support.

As DJ Obi now takes a well deserved rest, his life and ultimately his career as a DJ will probably be never the same. And he would probably get a Guinness World Record to boot. No Fields Found.
