Lupita Nyong’o‘s Oscar Awards dress has reportedly been found after it was stolen.
According to reports by US Weekly, the $15,000 Calvin Klein gown, which was custom made for the ’12 Years A Slave’ star, is believed to have been recovered abandoned in a bathroom at The London Hotel in West Hollywood where Lupita was staying.
The dress was recovered after detectives received a phone call yesterday, Friday, February 27, 2015 from a member of the media, who had been tipped-off about the dress’ location by an un-identified person.
In a statement, Lupita said: ‘I’m happy that it has been potentially recovered. It’s a timeless and priceless piece of art’. A black garment bag was reportedly found under a counter in the bathroom and it contained a dress similar to that stolen from the 31-year old star’s room after the Oscars last Sunday, February 22, 2015.
Francisco Costa, the women’s creative director at Calvin Klein Collection told Women’s Wear Daily: ‘All of us at Calvin Klein are thrilled to know that the dress has potentially been located. This was an amazing collaboration between the brand and Lupita and the dress looked truly exquisite on her. Once it’s returned to us, we will be able to have the dress restored and archived, as it now represents an important moment for the brand.’
The thief reportedly ditched the dress after they found out the pearls on it were fake.
