The Headies throughout the years has been known for the remarkable performances that have graced its stage.
From D’banj‘s iconic performance in a towel about a decade ago to 2face Idibia appearing on stage while being dragged back to a boxing ring brought on stage for the collaborative performance of Jahbless‘ ‘Joor Oh’.
But it was perhaps surprising that it was one of the old school acts that absolutely killed it last night.
Daddy Showkey may have not gotten the sort of reception that Wizkid got when he entered the arena, but once he stepped on stage it was another matter entirely.
Daddy Showkey rolled back the years and took the crowd at the Eko Convention Centre on a trip down memory lane. He performed his classic hits such as ‘Diana’, ‘Somebody Call My Name’ and ‘Fire Fire’.

He might be in his mid-40s but he showed no sign of that as he showed the crowd how galala used to be done.
Helped by backup singers and a half naked male backup dancer, Daddy Showkey showed that he still has it.
And the crowd responded in kind, dancing the galala and singing along to every song.
The Headies might be an award for popular and contemporary music but on this night Daddy Showkey’s performance ruled them all.
