Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, says his career has taken a downward spiral since the infamous cocaine trafficking scandal.
The actor said that he has not been getting invitations for movie roles and hasn’t been receiving any form of financial assistance from people who used to assist him in the past.
Baba Suwe went on to say that the allegation levelled against him by the NDLEA caused him to lose the goodwill of ex-Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who used to be his benefactor.
The actor, who said that many people believe that he committed the crime, insists that he was wrongly accused. ‘The way they (NDLEA) treated me actually rubbished my image. My career has been dwindling.’ he told an Encomium reporter.
‘A lot of people that are supposed to be inviting me to take part in their movies abandoned me because of the incident. Even a lot of people that could have assisted me financially don’t want to associate with me again.’
He’s still in court with the NDLEA over the incident that has proved embarrassing not only for him, but also for the agency. His movie on the cocaine drama is yet to see the light of day – although pundits say he may not be able to detail the experience in a movie until the legal aspects are over and the case concluded.
