69-year old actress, Dame Helen Mirren received the Best Leading Actress accolade for her role as the monarch in The Audience, marking her first ever Tony Awards win on June 7th, 2015.
Taking to the stage at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, she said: ‘Your Majesty, you did it again.’
The Hundred Foot Journey star beat off stiff competition from actress, Carey Mulligan, who was nominated for playing an inner-city schoolteacher in Skylight, and Elisabeth Moss who starred in the feminist play, The Heidi Chronicles.
