The beef just got much messier than it was between Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck, as Blaqbonez dedicated a whole track to dissing Odumodublvck, as they still stand on business on their ongoing beef rather than trading words online. The track, titled “ACL,” off Blaqbonez’s new album No Excuses, sees the rapper launch a major attack with his words at Odumodu. Interestingly, the title “ACL”, a term commonly used in football when a player attempts to replicate another’s movement and ends up injured, suggests that Blaqbonez views Odumodublvck as someone trying to copy him but failing. Through the title alone, Blaq clearly made it known that Odumodu is not on his level.
For decades, the diss track has been the lifeblood of hip-hop. Nothing quite brings out the creative muscles of a rapper like a lyrical duel with another. It’s a brutal, beautiful art form rooted in the competitive spirit of rap battles, where words are weapons and beats are battlegrounds.
Odumodu, though, had dropped his own album earlier, but there was no sign of diss in it. Blaqbonez, however, took it up a notch and came out with his full chest to come at the rapper.
One of the most iconic Nigerian rap beefs was the one between M.I. Abaga and Vector. Their exchange, which saw tracks like Vector’s “Judas The Rat” and M.I’s “The Viper,” will forever be referenced when discussing the depth of the Nigerian rap scene.
Before, they were fighting behind the keypad. But now, Blaqbonez took the bull by the horns. These two are the top rap acts in the country currently, just like the diss tracks between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, where they were having go’s at each other. Kendrick even won a Grammy for his diss track “Not Like Us.” More recently, the whole world watched as he took shots at Drake and J. Cole with songs like “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us,” showing that real rap beef should happen in music, not just on social media.
In the opening verse, Blaqbonez went hard with when he said ‘Failed rappers turning to Internet gangsters
Anti-World? More like anti-Success
Dem no get motion, maybe they need a wheelchair
No fit tell their guy the truth, they gats suck d*ck for new stipend
Where they go sleep tonight, if they tell Oga say that shit is a$$” and also dropped a bars that hit hard when he said ‘i be pulling strings make the machine work for me, whenever i need PR dem be my employee’.
In this particular verse, Blaqbonez was killing two birds with one stone, targeting both Odumodu and the members of his Anti-World gangsters.
Blaqbonez went even harder, calling his shots without holding back, accusing Odumodublvck of only showing up where there’s fame, craving attention, and pretending to support others while just riding their popularity.
Blaqbonez had even more words for Odumodublvck on Verse 2 of “ACL”:
“All that agriculture wey Dey give boys confidence go soon off
Dem Dey gas out to rap with me, the MACHINE go soon knock
Make e Dey do him highlife Dey go
Make e Dey sing high notes, Wande Coal
Make e Dey suck all dck, Olosho
Anywhere Belle face, E Dey go
Raise am raise am, sht the MACHINE is faulty
E go need quick recovery, person wey go soon turn 50
Used to be him, BobRisky
Now E DON CAST, he’s finished
Everyday all about BLAQ, he’s tweeting
Anywhere wey clout Dey, you see him
Old man, all you really want is greeting
Person go think say e Dey co-sign them
E just wan ride their wave
End of the month, Elon Musk go pay
Wait, another DOG EAT DOG? Put that sh*t inside the bin”
Blaqbonez went full rampage and savage mode on the track, calling Odumodu a failed rapper who’s now acting like a “banger boy,” chasing social media clout with tweets and attention-seeking moves. We all await Odumodu’s response to this diss, whether by the keyboard or, more importantly, in the studio.
The real anticipation lies in seeing if Odumodublvck will reply with a diss track of his own. And if he does? We might just be witnessing the birth of Nigeria’s own Kendrick Lamar vs Drake-level rap beef.
