Canadian songwriter and singer The Weeknd, who made hits such as ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, ‘Earned It’ and ‘The Hills’, just announced his new look and new album. The album’s called Starboy.
He might not have been told, but there has been a Starboy since!
Nigeria’s own Wizkid has been going by the moniker as far back as 2012, even setting up his own Starboy imprint while he was still an EME signee.
So this one that The Weeknd is calling himself Starboy in 2016, we don’t get it.
It’s a very striking coincidence; if one considers Wizkid’s new friendship with Drake. For sure, The Weeknd knows who Wizzy is by now. A cursory search on Google would tell him Starboy is already taken.
What makes it all the more confusing is that although both Canadian and have worked together earlier in their careers, The Weeknd and Drake don’t exactly have a cordial relationship any more.
Is he jacking Drake’s friend’s swag by calling his album Starboy or he genuinely didn’t know?
