Harry Redknapp has resigned from his duty post as the head coach of Queens Park Rangers.
The former Tottenham Hotspurs coach who joined QPR in 2012 and led them back to the Premier League, said he is ending his tenure at the club as manager to undergo a knee replacement surgery.
The 69-year old has led the club in what is a frustrating season for fans so far as they occupy the 19th position on the table and announced his resignation today, February 3, 2015 in statement.
‘I have had such a fantastic time at QPR, ‘I would like to thank the board, the players and all my staff, and especially the supporters who have been absolutely fantastic to me since I arrived at the club for their tremendous support.
‘Sadly I need immediate surgery on my knee which is going to stop me from doing my job in the coming weeks. It means I won’t be able to be out on the training pitch every day, and if I can’t give 100 per-cent I feel it’s better for someone else to take over the reins,’ Harry said.
According to several reports, Tim Sherwood, also a former Tottenham coach and player, has been linked as a potential replacement at QPR.
