JK Rowling, author and creator of the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise has regrets about the ending of the book series, and has apologized to fans for the obvious let-down.
She revealed in an interview that Harry Potter (lead male character) may have been the better choice for Hermione (lead female character) instead of Ron (supporting male character).
The celebrated author apologized to fans for making Ron and Hermione get together due to her personal sentiments, as opposed to satisfying a literary cause.
‘I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment, that’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron. I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility’, she said.
Rowling made the admittance in an interview conducted by Emma Watson, the actress who played ‘Hermione Granger’ in the film adaptation of Harry Potter.

Rowling held the vision of Ron and Hermione for 12 years! She will feel sentimental again for them unless she has know sentiment. That is the story the book and movie tells. Ron and Hermione are my favorite movie couple. Rupert and Emma were so beautiful growing up on the screen together. It couldn’t have been a bigger hit.
