Nollywood veteran and bad boy, Jim Iyke, has reacted in typical edgy fashion to winning the award for Most Searched Actor at the NET Honours People’s Choice Award for the second consecutive year.
The 44-year-old, who is set to appear in a movie named Hustle later in the year, emerged winner in a keen-contested category for the second year running. To make it into the NET Honours Class of 2021, he had to compete with other leading men in the industry, including Yul Edochie, Kunle Afolayan, Chimezie Imo and Aremu Afolayan.
In recent times, Jim Iyke has made the headlines for his savage responses to exchanges with his followers on social media. In celebrating his win, he took to his Instagram page to thank his fans for keeping him relevant in conversations related to entertainment.
“Won this twice in a row now…thank you. For good or bad, keep searching y’all”, he wrote.
However, not everyone was convinced that he should have won the award, and they made their feelings known on Netng’s Instagram page, with some arguing that the award should have gone to Zubby Michael.
“Abeg who dey search for am?” Joy Cee, an entrepreneur, argued.
“Where una put Zubby Michael?” Anointed Sparta, an underground artiste, commented.
“Na Zubby suppose get this thing. The man too get doings”, Uriel Chidera, an entrepreneur, wrote in response to Netng’s announcement.
Jim Iyke joins an illustrious group of media personalities who retained their NET Honours Awards from last year. Toke Makinwa emerged Most Popular (Female) Media Personality for the second consecutive year, Ebuka won Most Popular (Male) Media Personality for the second year. At the same time, Cardi B clinched the Most Popular (Female) Foreign Celebrity award once again.
Data for the NET Honours awards were sourced from a comprehensive database of over eight million users who engaged with Netng, Neusroom, Orin and 234Star platforms via the websites, social media accounts, and related platforms within the period from June 2020 to May 2021.
