The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards is set to celebrate some of the biggest songs across Africa, and this year’s “African Song of the Year” category is packed with popular hits. Nigerian artists are strongly represented, showing how much the country continues to influence music across the continent. At the last edition, the award went to “Tshwala Bam” by Titom, Yuppe, and Burna Boy, a song that became a massive anthem and fan favorite.

This year, Davido leads the Nigerian entries with two nominations. His 2025 song “With You” featuring Omah Lay, from his 5ive album, stands out for its global success, even earning a Grammy nomination in the 2026 Grammys, which shows how big the song was. He also features on “Nakupenda,” a lively Amapiano track by South African duo TXC, alongside Shoday, Scotts Maphuma, Zlatan, and AL Xapo. The song blends Nigerian and South African sounds, making it a strong contender.
Other Nigerian songs in the category include Rema’s “Kelebu,” Fido’s “Joy Is Coming,” and “Laho II” by Shallipopi and Burna Boy. Also making the list is two-time Grammy winner Tyla from South Africa with her 2025 hit single “Chanel.”
With such a strong lineup of songs, each bringing its own unique sound and appeal, the competition is tight.
