Girls Got (GGB) Bold dance crew has emerged winner of NET Honours 2022 Most Popular Dance/Video Vixen.
GGB is a Lagos-based pop dance group that became popular in Nigeria’s entertainment industry in 2014. The crew is made up of BBNiaja season six runner-up Afije ‘Liquorose’ Omokhoa, Odiley Emmanuella, and Ifeoma Efiokwu, who were independent until they met in February 2014 at an event where many Vixen groups were invited.
“We were all independent video vixens at first, just doing our own things. We barely even knew each other. Then in February 2014, magic happened. Many vixens had been invited to convene at Clarence Peters home for a music video shoot. We were part of them. We watched each other’s moves and secretly admired each other,” Liquorose told Vanguard in an interview.
Announcing the winner on Friday, July 1, 2022, GGB dance crew pulled 58.5% of the votes, beating Poco Lee who polled 23.1%, Kaffy 12.2%, Pinki Debbie with 2.7%, Tosin Pedro with 2.1 %, and Stephen Papi Ojo with 1.3% to cling the prestigious award.
The dancing steps, moves and energy of the trio have made them fan’s favorite. In one of their dance choreography posted on their YouTube channel, the crew showcased an incredible level of skill that had earned the video over 2 million views with several parts of the video used as clips online.
Commenting on the visible support and enthusiasm fans showed for their favourites, Michael Orodare, the Editorial Lead at ID Africa said “in seven days, we recorded more than 21,000 votes from fans who chose their favourites in the new categories. This is why we introduced 15 new voting categories that gave fans more power to choose their favourite celebrities for the awards.”
Since its debut in 2013, NET Honours have been one of the world’s most prestigious verified audience-based awards presented to deserving individuals for their outstanding achievements and contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
