German Gernot Rohr will be taking over from Super Eagles caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf as new manager.
The 63-year-old, whose debut game will be against Tanzania in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, agreed on a two-year contract with the Nigeria Football Federation Technical and Development Committee.
Previously, Rohr has managed African national teams including Gabon, Niger and Burkina Faso, as well as French clubs Bordeaux, Nice, Ajaccio and Nantes.
And from October 3, 2016, the Nigerian national team will be competing against Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria in Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
