Ahead of the seventh season of HBO series, Games of Thrones, it’s been revealed that a character’s death was meant to play out differently.
The final episode of season five saw Brienne of Tarth kill Stannis Baratheon in fulfillment of her sworn oath of avenging the death of his brother, Renly.

But how that part went was supposed to be much different than the resigned ‘Go on, do your duty’ attitude shown by Stannis.
Rather, Stannis was extremely remorseful for his past actions in the original script – including the sacrifice of his daughter Shireen to the Lord of Light at the behest of Melisandre.

Stannis’ death in season five was followed by a slew of deaths in season six, including Ramsay Bolton, Tommen, High Sparrow, Loras Tyrell and the Khals among many more.
Season seven of Game of Thrones will premiere July 16 and will star Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington and more.
