Distributed by popular film merchant, Igwe Gabosky’s G-Media, the DVDs are available in 21 physical outlets across 21 states including online platforms such as Konga, G-Media and Afolayan’s Golden Effects Productions.
While Afolayan is also joining works such as Figurine and Irapada in an attractive package called Kunle Afolayan’s collection, Ali-Balogun’s Tango with Me is an eye-catching stand-alone, bearing photo of the beautiful Genevieve Nnaji and Joseph Benjamin on the cover.
The romantic comedy, Phone Swap held sway in 2012 as one of the top Nigerian movies in the cinemas and won the ‘Best Achievement in Production Design at the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA).
Tango with Me, shot on film 35mm format, on the other hand, is a romantic drama written by Femi Kayode and starring Genevieve Nnaji, Joseph Benjamin, Joke Silva, Bimbo Manuel, Ahmed Yerima, Kate Henshaw, Bimbo Akintola and others.
The film swept six awards at the maiden edition of Nollywood Movies Awards in 2012 and bagged six nominations at AMAA 2011.
According to Gabosky, fans stand the chance of getting the collection of Afolayan’s works at discounted rate on the online platforms starting from today, December 15, 2014.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the release of the films last Thursday, December 11, 2014, Gabosky described the filmmakers as people who aligned themselves with best practices.
‘They are not subsistence filmmakers who make films only when they are hungry. And we are happy to be starting with them,’ he said.
