Last week, NET Newspapers LTD, publishers of Nigerian Entertainment Today made a big announcement, unveiling the inauguration of an annual umbrella conference for Nigeria’s entertainment sector.
The first of its kind conference will cut cross all sectors associated with the entertainment industry: Fashion, Music, Movies/Films, Media, Sports, Arts, IT, Comedy and Events.
Holding at Grand Ball Room of Eko Hotel and Suites on Friday, April 26, 2013, the conference will feature sessions on Nollywood, Music, Media, Business and more. And the one-day conference will end with the ‘NET Honours‘ awards, to reward a select number of distinguished practitioners.
And we’re happy to announce, also that the conference will be declared open by the Director-General of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Mr. Frank Nweke Jnr.
Nweke was the Minister of Youth, Minister of Information and then Minister of Information and Communications during the second term of President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003-2007.
Nweke will deliver a paper on the conference theme: ‘building the industry of our dreams’.
Already confirmed as speakers at the highly anticipated event include Kennis founder and CEO Keke Ogungbe, iconic writer and producer Amaka Igwe, GM Consumer Marketing MTN Nigeria Kola Oyeyemi, CEO of Megaletrics (owners of Beat FM, Naija FM and Classic FM) Chris Ubosi, and Charterhouse Ghana founder Iyiola Ayoade.
It gets more exciting with the mention of the many brilliant minds billed to be panelists at the one day conference: Rapper Yetunde ‘Sasha‘ Alabi and Victor Akande who is the Group Entertainment Editor at The Nation Newspaper will be joining the previously unveiled panellists which include actress Nse Ikpe-Etim, Headies founder Ayo Animashaun, filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, singer-songwriter Darey, advertising whiz kid Steve Babaeko, recording artiste Weird MC, the iconic DJ Jimmy JATT, National Mirror MD Steve Ayorinde, new media expert Elo Umeh, writer Tolu Ogunlesi, AGN president Ibinabo Fiberesima and Chocolate City president Audu Maikori.
Other panelists include Now Muzik CEO Efe Omorogbe, President of the Motion pictures distributors of Nigeria, Gab Okoye, Yemi Adamolekun of EiE, Colette Otusheso – Head of Marketing and Operations, MTV Base, and entertainer Sound Sultan.
The conference will be moderated by Tee A.
