Lionel Messi is expected to miss Barcelona’s three upcoming games – trips to Sporting Gijon, Borussia Monchengladbach and Celta Vigo – after picking up an injury against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, September 21.
‘Leo Messi has groin strain in his right leg and he will be out for around three weeks,’ Barca officials confirm.

Barcelona led 1-0 when Messi was replaced by Arda Turan in the second half of their 1-1 La Liga draw with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday September 21.
Barca head coach, Luis Enrique said in his post-match conference: ‘I’m not a medic, I can’t give information. But without Leo we all lose. Football loses. We have to find solutions, knowing that with Messi we’re very strong. We know that we have to win.’
Messi, who has scored four goals in five league games this season, may also be missing in action when Argentina face Peru and Paraguay in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month during international break.
