Nollywood’s ‘Cool Girl,’ Folu Storms is set to steam up the screen as the forbidden love interest of hero Shawn Faqua in the hotly anticipated 2026 flick.

Just when we thought Folu Storms couldn’t get any hotter, she goes and signs on for a role that has all the makings of an Oscar-baiting, gossip-column darling. The actress, who has been absolutely dominating the screen this year with back-to-back heavy-hitting roles, from her fearless investigative journalist turn in the cinema blockbuster Red Circle to playing the no-nonsense blogger “Joy” in the gritty Netflix series Baby Farm, is now plunging headfirst into the ultimate star-crossed romance.
Sources tell us the Crime & Justice, Lagos star is set to play Adia in veteran filmmaker Chris Ihidero’s long-awaited feature debut, ‘Aloma,’ slated for a massive 2026 premiere.
Ihidero, who’s promised this film will be the “most important Nigerian film of 2026,” is billing the PinPoint Productions flick as a “love story in a time of war,” and frankly, we’re already sold.
The film’s plot is reportedly a modern, gritty take on the Robin Hood mythos, set against the backdrop of Lagos’s stark economic divide. Aloma (Shawn Faqua) is the protagonist fighting for the disenfranchised, while Folu’s Adia is the emotional entanglement standing squarely in his path. Think Romeo and Juliet meets an urban epic, where the war isn’t just between two families, but between the haves and the have-nots.
“The chemistry between Folu and Shawn is electric,” dishes an on-set insider. “This isn’t just a simple fling; it’s a high-stakes, life-and-death kind of love where they have to choose between their ideals and each other.”
The casting only solidifies Folu Storms’ position as one of the most bankable and versatile talents in the game. Before even shedding her uniform from the popular Showmax’s Crime & Justice, Lagos series, she was busy shooting the thriller series Spiralling and garnering praise for her emotional depth in the MTV anthology short Afefe.
Now, tackling the complex role of Adia, a woman torn between loyalty to her powerful family and a passionate connection with the charismatic renegade who threatens everything they stand for, Folu is poised to deliver a career-defining performance.
With the film having the deep pockets of an MBO Capital-led consortium backing it, all signs point to Aloma not just being the most important movie, but the one to keep the tabloids buzzing for months.
