Feyikemi Abudu, a social media influencer, media personality, and business consultant, popularly known as FK Abudu, has received her first-ever NET Honours win, emerging as Class of 2021 ‘Most Searched Person’.
FK rose into the spotlight on Nigerian Twitter as a sharp-witted, wine-loving feminist in 2016, but she became more popular during the End SARS protests of October 2020. She worked closely with the Feminist Coalition (FemCO) to distribute food and logistics during the demonstrations. She also worked hard to secure the release of protesters unlawfully arrested. As a result, Netng profiled her as one of the women leading the #EndSARS revolution. Today, even though the youths are no longer on the streets protesting, many still look to her to lead social change conversations. Most days, though, she’s busy leading her consultancy business, Caya House and co-hosting her podcast, I Said What I Said.
She was nominated in the ‘Most Searched Person’ category with Burna Boy’s manager and mum Bose Ogulu, Fashion influencer and actress Temi Otedola, UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya, Human Rights advocate and community organiser Rinu Oduala and social media influencer Natacha Akide.
Numbers do not lie: she is ranked an ‘A-Lister’ on Plaqad’s SocialCred app. This means she has the highest possible social media influence and engagement.
The NET Honours People’s Choice Awards are based on engagement from over 8 million internet users reached across websites, social media and related channels of Netng, Neusroom, 234Star and Orin between June 2020 and May 2021. The event celebrates musicians, actors, comedians, reality TV stars, events and public personalities who are subjects of Nigeria’s most exciting conversations in the year under review.
