It’s a new dawn for Ego Omalicha as the R&B/Pop singer has undergone a serious transformation, changing her name to Safarie and parting ways with her label QuestionMark Entertainment.
The ‘Omalicha nwa’ singer, who signed to QuestionMark in 2009, severed ties with the label because, according to her, they differed in opinion on the direction in which her brand was going.
‘She has parted ways with the label and her agreement was terminated agreeably following conflicts over her image, brand and style of music. The artist and label couldn’t agree on her image and creative differences, after a long while it was mutually agreed that her contract be terminated’ the singer’s publicist explained.
‘She was trying to switch her style to something more gothic but the label wanted her to keep the original ‘Nigerian simple girl’ look‘.
Safarie is expected to release her new single ‘If you want me’ on July 5.
Questionmark, once a thriving and promising label, was home to Asa, Cobhams, Silver Saddih, Streetmonks, Mode 9 and others, before they all left, at different times, following bitter disagreements with management.
