The sixth season of MTV Shuga, which takes place in Nigeria, is set to premiere on March 6. While there are still a couple of days before the show makes it debut on television, we got to attend the Friday exclusive screening and absolutely loved it. There are tons of reasons why this new season is possibly Shuga’s best, but because we don’t want to have too many spoilers, we’ll just share our top five.

1. Tobi Is Now A Bad Boy
The last time we saw Tobi we knew him as a lovable wide-eyed young chap with a large heart. However, from what we’ve seen in the new season, it would seem that time and success have taken a toll on Tobu’s persona. Seeing Timini Egbuson play Tobi in a darker and more sinister way makes for a brilliant and riveting watch.

2. There’s A Love Triangle!
When we begin the new season, we find out that Timini’s character, Tobi, and Jemima Osunde‘s character, Leila, have a relationship situation going on but being the bad boy that he is, Timini has a less emotional and more physical situation with the new girl, Faa. There are literally scenes where the three of them are together and you can feel the drama about to burst through the screen. There’s absolutely nothing like a good ol’ love triangle.

3. The Newbies Are Really Good
Speaking of new people, the new additions to Shuga cast are absolutely magnificent. While they were all stunning in their roles, the stand out newbies were Helena Nelson as Diana, Adebukola Oladipupo as Faa, Abayomi Alvin as Ebisinde and Rahama Sadau as Yasmin. Their interpretations of their roles were so remarkable and stunning and we cannot wait to see them light up our screens for the rest of the season.

4. The Production Is On Point
This shouldn’t come as a surprise given the fact that Shuga is an MTV show and three ace directors worked on the project. However, it is worthy of mention that the producers really took things up a notch with this season. From the dizzying camera angles to the perfect styling, MTV Shuga Naija did not come to play.

5. Bolinto! Bolinto!
Everyone’s favourite TV host and filmmaker was brilliant in her supporting role in the show. While we only saw her for a bit at the premiere, we are sure we will see even more of her in coming episodes and that in itself is an exciting reason to tune in for the show.
