31 year professional footballer David Astori who was the captain for Italian Serie A club Fiorentina FC has reportedly died in his sleep.
Astori who had 14 international caps to his name, was found dead at the Ladi Moret hotel in Udine, ahead of the Viola’s meeting with Udinese on Sunday.
In a statement released by Fiorentina FC, the team said “Fiorentina are profoundly shaken and forced to announce that their captain Davide Astori has died. For this terrible and delicate situation, and above all out of respect for his family, we appeal to the sensitivity of the media.”
According to the club’s press officer, he didn’t show up for the team’s lunch at 9:30 and he is usually the first person to show up.
