Colombia and Real Madrid midfielder, James Rodriquez won Best Goal of the Year award at the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or awards ceremony held late last night, January 12, 2015 at the Kongresshaus in Zurich, Switzerland.
Rodriquez’s stunning volley against Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil was named the best goal ahead of equally sensational goals by his rivals, Holland and Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie and Peamount United female footballer, Stephanie Roche.
The dashing James Rodriguez was presented with his award by former France World Cup winner, Christian Karembeu.
And although it remains a wonder how his goal could thump Van Persie’s stunning header against Spain in the very first match at the World Cup, the Real Madrid player walked away with the diadem.
