
The New Afrika Shrine and Street Media Solutions present the 3rd edition of The Afrobeat Party, an annual musical concert targeted at celebrating the life and times of the late Afro beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Since its inception, The Afro beat Party has created a networking atmosphere for music lovers and the socially active population of our society. Previous editions of the event have featured an array of display from trend setting artists like General Pype, Dammy Krane, K- Switch, Runtown, Efa, Cynthia Morgan, Tillaman, Flowsick, Re
Speaking on the event, Yemi Williams, founding partner at Street Media Solutions said: ‘This year would be its third edition and all arrangements have been made to celebrate the 18th year passage of the greatest music icon -Fela Anikulapo Kuti in a memorable way that will stay in the hearts of many for a long time.’
The 2- day event is scheduled to kick-off in the evening of Saturday, August 1 and ends on Sunday, August 2, exactly 18 years of the legend’s demise. Fela died on August 2, 1997 at the age of 58 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Roughly 1m people attended his funeral procession which began at Tafawa Balewa Square and ended at Kalakuta Republic in Ikeja where he was laid to rest.
