British Council Nigeria and National Theatre, London (NT Live), in association with British Deputy High Commission, Lagos have organized a screening of the Fela! musical at the New Africa Shrine in Lagos.
Fans will have the opportunity to watch the musical for the very first time come Sunday, February 6 2011 as it premieres in Lagos State.
Winner of three Tony awards including best choreography, Fela! which was filmed live at the Olivier Theatre in London, celebrates the life of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Through his pioneering music, Fela! unfolds the controversial musician’s life as an artist and political activist.
The event is part of the British Council’s way of showcasing the best of UK creativity overseas while working with the best of creative talent to develop innovative events and collaborations.
Tickets which cost N500 are available from the British Council office, Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos before the event or on the day at New Africa Shrine, 1 NERDC Road, Agidingbi, Lagos.
